Keto

What is the keto diet?

The ketogenic diet is a high fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrate (20-30 grams of net carbs per day) diet. When we eat less sugar and more healthy fats, we enter ketosis, and consequently, your body burns fat instead of carbohydrate for fuel. Ketosis provides a lot of health benefits. We can potentially; improve heart health, enhance cognitive function, decrease inflammation, increase fat burning, suppress hunger and lose weight. A ketogenic diet is successful for a lot of people because it’s simple and sustainable – it becomes a lifestyle more than a diet.

Why is choosing a keto
snack the best option when working in an office?

Many of us spend our day working at a desk. We’ve all been there, feeling sluggish and tired after lunchtime. Its only 2 pm and you have the rest of your day still ahead of you. Eating a high-carb lunch can make you feel sluggish and tired. Shortly after eating carbs, your blood glucose level will shoot up and your body will produce insulin to bring the blood glucose level down. Eating more healthy fats like omega-3 and carbohydrates in moderation can help you feel more energised – particularly around lunchtime.

Why is keto good for regular exercise and athletes?

When you exercise whilst on the ketogenic diet, you burn more fat. Ketogenic diets can potentially improve endurance performance through glycogen sparing and positive body composition changes. The ketogenic diet leads to self-perceived improvements in recovery and inflammation after exercise. Combining exercise with a ketogenic diet can be useful in terms of controlling appetite, helping you stay away from junk food!
